The Device
“Now I believe Agent Maximoff needs to break through the wards next and we’ll be able to set up the device. From there I’ll rendezvous with the other team and Wanda will wait for my signal to activate the device.” Fury said, strolling along behind them.
“That won’t be hard. Whoever their witch is, her wards are rather sloppy.” Wanda said with a bit of pride as she picked it apart before looking over to Fury. “This device, I know what it can do but there are things I won’t do. Since you need me to power this device, I hope you figured that in your plans.”
“This is why I like you, Wanda,” Tony replied with a chuckle before an alarm started going off in the corner of his screen. “Beta team’s been engaged,” he announced with a frown. It was slightly earlier than expected, but he figured they’d be fine.
Fury listened silently to Wanda before cursing under his breath about incompetence.
“I trust the two of you to get the device set up.” Fury said, handing the container over to Tony. “Im afraid the other team sounds like it needs my assistance. Stark, keep in touch.”
The Device
“Obviously.” Wanda said, nodding but still worried. “I just hope he knows exactly what he’s doing. We are invading a nation technically. Something, I believe SHIELD wasn’t willing to do when Magneto kidnapped me so this had better be worth it.”
“Yeah, you’re telling me,” Tony replied with a slight snort before raising the volume to address Fury. “I’m in the system. What next?” he asked. It was really a little sad how easy it had been to get into, although he supposed that they weren’t expecting very many people to discover it in order to hack it. And he really was that good.

The Device
Tony frowned a little from within his suit. The flight had been too long and now they were here and he wanted to get back. He really hated doing missions like this. They felt so…weird. Maybe ‘wrong’ was a better word here.
“I’m still not quite sure what exactly it is we’re doing,” he pointed out. Fury liked to keep things close to his chest and it could really inhibit their ability to do their job. Currently he had the suit scanning the surrounding area for metahumans and the locations and vitals of his other teammates up on screen. He wanted to keep track of them as best he could, after all; especially with how dangerous this could get.
“But if we want high ground, that way’s the best bet,” he continued, pointing to the south.
“Well teleportation is out of the question.” Wanda said, as she reached out with her magic and felt wards surrounding the compound. Not like Tony would let her teleport him anywhere regardless.
“It seems as though they may have a magic user or two of their own but nothing I can’t take care of as soon as we get inside.” She said, frowning. “Tony is right though. High ground would be best to set up that device.”
“A lower level witch but she’s not here today so they won’t know when you take down the wards.” Fury stated as he watched his watch. “Alright, time to go. We’re going to head out towards the south in which time Stark needs to hack their security system. By the time we get there, the patrol will have already passed and we’ll get in under their notice.”
The Device
Nick Fury frowned as he threw his cigar to the ground and stamped it out. Symkaria was a miserable little nation in his opinion and the sooner they did this the sooner they could leave.
He had the device with him, it was simply a matter of getting it in the correct place. He looked over to Wanda and Tony and gave them a curt nod.
“Alright you two. Let’s get going.”
Getting really pissed off now.
Clint glared. “So you’re threatening my girlfriend’s safety now? The usual blackmail isn’t enough for you?”
“I’ll do what I have to ensure national security. Simply accept the mission when the time comes and you’ll find yourself having a much easier time.” Fury answered, staring back. “You’re dismissed.”
“And you won’t go anywhere near Kate? Ever? Or send her anything of any kind? Or have others do it for you? Or any other kind of contact.” Clint asked in reply. “And understand, Fury. If you break your word on this, I won’t feel bad about just leaving.”
“I will have the paperwork filled out ensuring that Ms. Bishop is left alone.” Fury said turning back to his work. “Now I have work to do so leave my office now.”
Getting really pissed off now.
“No. We’re not done. Leave Kate alone,” Clint insisted, shooting up from his seat.
“Then you’ll accept a certain mission when it comes up. You’ll know which one it is when it does.” Fury responded, raising a brow.

A talk with Fury
Fury got up and walked out of the room.
“Be sure to have my office warded against Astral Projection when I get back.” He ordered as he walked past his secretary. “I want the whole building done by Friday.”
“Oh? Running away like a coward?” Junior mused, following him. “No one but you can see me, Fury, so don’t expect people to be watching. I will find out what’s happening…and I WILL get Wanda back. I will do everything I can to make sure you’re brought down, I will make sure you’ll suffer.”
Fury continued into down the hallway until he came to another room. He stepped across the threshold a smirked.
“This room is warded however. Don’t bother dropping by again.” He said as he closed the door behind him.
Getting really pissed off now.
“That is classified information.” Fury said, turning back to his desk. “Also, my hearing is perfectly fine. Like I said, I need you focused and you’re not with her.”
“I’m plenty focused! I’m getting my job done. And like I said, you don’t have control over my relationships,” Clint insisted with a glare.
“That remains to be seen.” Fury responded. “We’re done here. I’ll contact you when I need to speak with you again.”
“No. We’re not done. Leave Kate alone,” Clint insisted, shooting up from his seat.
“Then you’ll accept a certain mission when it comes up. You’ll know which one it is when it does.” Fury responded, raising a brow.
A talk with Fury
“Wanda made her choice, you should respect it. Also, this is much bigger than you, it’s a matter of security.” Fury said, not even looking up from his work. “You have exactly, 30 seconds to leave.”
“You probably blackmailed her. This choice isn’t something she wanted to do…or Marya wouldn’t be so upset. How is this a matter of security? Your pathetic ego not getting enough? I’ve met people like you. You have to abuse power. You think you’re a God. You’re not a God. I’ve met them. You’re a parasite compared to them. And in the end, they get what is coming to them. That is what I’ve observed.” he said. He wasn’t going to leave until he got answers that were to his satisfaction.
Fury got up and walked out of the room.
